Calcium Bentonite Clay: The Detoxifying Bath

Bentonite Clay Detoxifying Bath

You will need:

Fill the tub up with water. (as hot as you can stand it) Place the ingredients in the tub and move the water around until the epsom salt and the clay have completely dissolved. Sit in the tub and relax (I read a book). Soak in the water for 10 - 20 minutes.

(FYI: The Epsom salt draws out toxins from your body as well as relieves the body of aches and pains. Apple cider vinegar softens dry skin while at the same time it it balances the body's pH.)

*I was very relaxed and ended up falling asleep right after the bath so It is probably best to do this before bedtime. When I woke up I felt completely energized!)
*There was a slight tingle during the bath and my skin reddened a little bit, but that is normal because the toxins are being sucked out of your skin. Don't panic! It's fine, I promise.

Calcium Bentonite Clay Detox: The Drink

*Please consult your doctor first to make sure this is safe for you to do!

You will need:
  • Redmond Trading Company Clay 10 oz (or any food grade bentonite clay of your choice)
  • Glass of water (but you will need to drink a lot of water throughout the day as well)
  • A plastic or wooden spoon (DO NOT USE METAL! It will decrease the potency of the clay)
Directions:
So easy! Using your wooden or plastic spoon, dump some clay into a glass of water. (I used a heaping tablespoon, but if you want to start out smaller, go for it. It's safe to use more than the tablespoon, but just remember that you'll need to drink A LOT of water to make sure that the clay can pass through the small and large intestines.) You can also use juice. The trick here is to stir, stir, stir. And then, stir some more. You'll see clumps form on the top. I used the bottom of my spoon to flatten them out on the side of the glass and then I stirred some more..lol. I cannot stress that enough. When you feel like most of the clumps are gone, go ahead and drink the mixture. Now just go about your day like you normally would.

Here are some questions that I was asked:
Q: Was it gritty?
A: No, it was not gritty. (This is how you know you have good quality clay. Good quality clay will NOT be gritty at all.)

Q: What does it taste like?
A: It sort of tasted a little bit like soy milk to me...it also had about the same consistency of soy milk...very "silky" texture.

Q: Did it work?

The answer to that question is very simple: YES it worked for me! But I would also like to add (and this is VERY IMPORTANT) however much water you THINK you need throughout the day while doing this detox...AT LEAST DOUBLE IT! The more water that you drink, the larger the surface area the clay has to work with...which means it will remove more toxins from your body.

Over the next 24 hours, while doing this detox I had frequent bathroom trips. (Urination and bowel movements) I also burped...a lot. I didn't feel sick at all, but I did get a headache which is completely normal.

The next day I felt great! I feel so much better knowing that junk is out of my system. It's been a few days now and all is still well. I think I might do this once a week just to keep my system cleaned out.

Please feel free to ask questions!

Calcium Bentonite Clay Detox

First and foremost: Check with your doctor FIRST to make sure this is a safe choice for you!
Now that we've got that out of the way:
Let's talk about detox. No, not a drug detox but a detox from the heavy metals and toxins that are already in your system. (Thanks to things like air pollution, food pollution and who knows where else this crap can come from) These toxins are absorbed into your body and they store in fat cells, bones, glands and hair. Yuck!
Heavy metal toxicity can result in damaged or reduced mental and central nervous function, lower energy levels, and damage to blood composition, lungs, kidneys, liver, and other vital organs. Long-term exposure may result in slowly progressing physical, muscular, and neurological degenerative processes that mimic Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, muscular dystrophy, and multiple sclerosis. In addition, allergies to heavy metals are not uncommon and repeated long-term contact with some metals or their compounds may even cause cancer. (WHOA!)
Why am I on this subject? Because about a week and a half ago, I did a Google search on some symptoms that I have been experiencing. These were symptoms that I had automatically associated with my bipolar disorder. Boy, was I ever surprised when the FIRST thing that popped up on the list was HEAVY METAL TOXICITY! Don't get me wrong...I loves me some heavy metal (the music! not the toxin), but I've since learned that not all heavy metal is good!
So, how the hell do you get rid of it?
Good question! I searched that, too. This is what I found:
If you do your own search on any search engine on this subject you will get a about a million and a half suggestions on how to detoxify (or cleanse) your body of these pollutants and heavy metals. Some suggest to eat only fruits and vegetables. I'm not saying that is a bad idea, but if you are on a tight budget that's not always possible.I read that cilantro (also known as coriander) is another natural herb that detoxifies the body of these heavy metals.
The one thing that stood out (FOR ME) was bentonite clay. I've heard of this before a long time ago but had forgotten what it was and for what it is used. Now? I'll never forget it!

     Benzonite clay? What's THAT?

Bentonite clay is a clay that is mined from the earth, and it’s formed after volcanic ash has weathered and aged in the presence of water. It has a strong negative electromagnetic charge, and when activated by water, it acts like a magnet in and on our bodies, pulling metals and toxins to it. It also has an affect on the body’s pH and provides the body with some vital minerals at the same time.
There are four types of bentonite clay. Calcium bentonite, sodium bentonite, potassium bentonite and aluminum bentonite. (Calcium and sodium are the two most commercially used clays to detox. So, do your homework and research which one you feel like is best for you.) *I used the calcium bentonite*

M'kay...What do I do with it?
Well if it's food grade clay, you can put it in water or juice and drink it! It will detoxify you from the inside. (separate post on this later!) You can also bathe in it. (This will also be a separate post...along with the complete recipe that I used) AND you can use it as a paste and put it on your face. (This will be another post for late, along with recipe)

Is it expensive? Where can I buy it?

No, it is not expensive at all!  I got 10 ounces of it and trust me, it lasts for a long time. Unless you use it every single day, which I don't. I have the Redmond Bentonite clay, which you can buy straight from their website but I bought mine at Amazon. (because it was a little bit cheaper than the website because I got free shipping) Here's the link to the exact one that I bought: Redmond Trading Company Clay 10 oz

All of the ways listed above are great ways to detox your body from harsh toxins that are just sitting in your body and making you sick. I chose the clay detox because it was the more economical choice for me and because it "spoke" to me when I read about it. I have used it and as I stated above I will post all about my adventures with this product. So, until the next blog:

Love, Hugs & Blessed Be,
